Best Racing Brake Fluid
The most important link of a racing brake system is the brake fluid. Sometimes this gets overlooked because the choice of the brake fluid may be political or based upon price being the brake fluid a consumable. Here the key factors to look at to make the best choice:
1. Compressibility: This is crucial in order to take full advantage of the stiffness of the calipers. If the fluid loses compressiblity the driver will feel spongy pedal and the modulation of the braking power gets worse. It is important to look at the curve of Compressibility vs. Temperature – supplied by the fluid maker – to see the correlation of the stiffness and the caliper temperature. The consistency of the brakes performance at high temperature is what’s desirable to accomplish. The flatter that curve the better.
2. Dry Boiling Point: This is the temperaure which the fluid boils at when it is unopened. Nowadays this values range around 600F which is pretty remarkable however if the caliper temperature goes up in the 500F range, problems to the seals might occur, as well as the aluminum loses strenght.
3. Wet Boiling Point: This is a DOT procedure. The DOT4 specification mandates the wet point must be over 392F. This is mainly applied to brake fluid for OE passenger cars however there are independent labs that can perform this test on Racing brake fluids.
4. Compatibility: One of the most important tests that the brake makers carry out to validate a brake fluid is the compatibility to the rubber components such as seals, dust boots, master cylinders parts and pieces, etc.. The test runs hundreds thousands cycles which simulate the life of the brake components, it involves many procedures to make sure all the components meet the specification at the end of the test.
Another important characteristic of a brake fluid is the hygroscopicity which is the measured as the % of water the fluid absorbs when exposed to moisture. This is crucial expecially for Stock Cars where the teams change calipers and master cylinders in the garage to test several brakes combinations. The more water is absorbed the more it loweres the brake fluid boiling points. This can be tested in a lab as well.
Last but not least is the chemical composition of the brake fluid that might include toxic substances that are may not legal by the local government so the fluid itself can be banned. Most fluid chemical compositions are patented.

To that end I analyze a selection of works that reflects the broad scope of Saikaku’s oeuvre, highlighting commonalities among them while simultaneously striving to capture their diversity. About Face $9.99 David Gilmour released his second solo venture in 1984, following the apparent dissolution of Pink Floyd. He had released a record on his own in 1978, but About Face is much more accessible. Gilmour has a stellar band backing him, including Jeff Porcaro (drums), Pino Palladino (bass), and Anne Dudley (synthesizer). The songs on About Face show a pop sensibility that Pink Floyd rarely was concerned with achieving. These fluids do not absorb solar energy well and the use of nanoparticle enhancement is necessary. Through the use of a micro-solar collector, the efficiency improvement predicted by earlier models was tested for varying nanoparticle materials, volume fractions and particle shapes. Earlier studies as well as the current work show that the size and shape of the nanoparticles as well as the scattering mode all impact the amount of energy absorbed and emitted by the nanofluid. In order to optimize the efficiency of a direct absorption solar system the optimum nanoparticle-liquid combination needs to be developed. The optimum nanofluid for a direct absorption solar thermal collector is investigated numerically through the variation of particle size, collector geometry, and scattering mode. By mirroring the lo-fi sunshine goth aesthetic that the Reid brothers so effortlessly beat into the ground in the mid- to late ’80s, Distortion becomes more about style than substance, often burying the lyrics in an avalanche of mud that clings to each instrument (be it cello, Farfisa organ, accordion, or guitar) like pet hair on a pea coat. That said, patience rewards those who stick around for the credits, and acclimation to the pounding (yet still sweet) industrial landscapes comes about eight songs in with the instant classic “Too Drunk to Dream,” a vintage Fields rave-up that launches out of a Gregorian-style intro that boldly proclaims “Sober, life is a prison/Shitfaced, it is a blessing/Sober, nobody wants you/Shitfaced, they’re all undressing.” It’s a double-sided hook that clears the murkiness from the remaining five tracks, while simultaneously improving the first half (especially tracks like “California Girls” and “Please Stop Dancing”) when spun for a second or third time. Keyboard portraits: Performing character in the eighteenth century. $49.99 This dissertation explores how keyboard works in the eighteenth century may have functioned as musical portraits of subjects of character pieces, of patrons, of performers, and of composers. I take a performance-based approach that brings in outside disciplines of art history, dance, literature, and philosophy to treat music as a sounding, kinesthetic, and visual phenomenon that conveyed meaning for and about its composers, performers and listeners. While early in the century, the portrayal of character at the keyboard depended upon a preexisting code of legible bodily signs, by the century’s end the very conception of character shifted to center upon interior subjectivity. Musical aesthetics traced this shift with late century theories of expression and genius that viewed music as the ideal medium with which to depict the fluid, ever-changing, inner emotional world of interiority and personal character. A series of case studies permit me to trace the shifting definitions of character as they came to be represented at the keyboard. I write of the construction and deconstruction of visual constructs of character in the pieces de clavecin of Francois Couperin. I consider how music for Spanish royals by Domenico Scarlatti and Antonio Soler functioned within the system of patronage to symbolically to represent patrons in a musical equivalent of the state portrait. I examine constructs of gender and female character in accompanied sonatas by and for the French amateur Madame Brillon de Jouy, and end with an analysis of musical self-portraiture and subjectivity in the free fantasias of C. P. E. Bach. |

The way “Forelopig Bit” calls to mind everything from Hot Butter’s “Popcorn” to bubbly Balearic house and back again is part of its charm — whatever dancefloor it fills seems like one that hosts a moveable feast. The various backward glances throughout are hardly hidden (calling the third track “Boney M Down” is as dead a giveaway as any), but even something like “Don O Van Budd,” which could be a Beach Boys nod, an Air one, or both, feels just right for its reflective context. Meanwhile, the addition of soft guitar parts, acoustic and electric, to many songs further expands the album’s range; on songs where it’s the lead instrument, such as “Feel Am,” where electric guitar essentially provides the rhythm, the duo carefully turn the expectations of what the album should be on its head. By eschewing rough edges and emphasizing a more fluid sound, arguably the duo leaves itself open to charges it revives the cul-de-sac of more tasteful techno that was increasingly blown out of the water by the eruption of hardcore and jungle in the early ’90s — and it does feel a bit too long in end, a maxed-out CD where one wouldn’t be needed. But there are no acid jazz 20-minute diversions that go nowhere, thankfully, and where songs like “Suppegjok” definitely are more designed for chilling than raving, when the darker bass comes in on “Turkish Delight” and the peppier beats on “Plukk Og Pire,” things are far from somnolent. ~ Ned Raggett, Rovi |

Live on Tour in the Far East, Vol. 1 $19.98 This series of live discs mark the first recordings of what became the regular working quintet of the criminally underrated saxophonist, composer and bandleader Billy Harper. With bassist Louie Spears the new addition to the line-up, three distinct concerts were recorded on Harper’s spring, 1991 tour of the Far East and released separately without any duplication of material. Volume One comes from Pusan, Korea on April 27 and while the sound isn’t the best — the bass and drums are muted and lack crispness — the extremely high quality of the music and interaction between the players more than compensates. Harper’s intense opening solo almost rushes the opening “I Do Believe” too much and it takes Eddie Henderson’s trumpet to cool things down. The piece doesn’t sound so much like a set-opener as a mid-set entry when both the group and the audience have settled into the music. John Coltrane’s “Countdown” features Harper’s long, blazing lines in duet with drummer Newman T. Baker before piano and bass enter for a taste of the classic Coltrane quartet sound on the closing cadenzas. Pianist Francesca Tanksley’s “Dance In The Question” is almost the real starting point — Henderson and Harper display their near-telepathic harmonic empathy and Baker gets a little lead space over her left-hand riff near the end. “Insight” finds Henderson tossing out long, fast solo lines over light, fluid backing from the rhythm section before Harper ups the intensity quotient with another tenor/drums duo. Yet the group has no problem turning on the tenderness (and dropping a few thrilling trills) for the ballad “If One Could Only See” or tackle a more measured, mid-tempo groove on “Croquet Ballet,” another fine display of Harper & Henderson harmonies. On Tour, Vol. 1 shows an impressive musical range, great command of dynamics and is just loaded with really sharp, smart, excellent music once it hits its stride.
